Judge Denied Mum of Calling Her Son "Messiah"

According to a report on msnNOW.com , Child Support Magistrate Lu Ann Ballew, a judge from Newport, Tenn., has changed the name of a seven-month-old boy called "Messiah" to "Martin." Her reasoning? Someone pretty important is already using the name Messiah, and that person is ... well, the Messiah. "The word Messiah is a title and it's a title that has only been earned by one person and that one person is Jesus Christ," Ballew ruled. Although "Messiah" was one of the fastest rising baby names in 2012, Ballew said it could cause problems for the boy if he grows up in Cocke County, which has a large Christian population. Martin/Messiah's mom, Jaleesa Martin, plans to appeal the decision. "I think I should be able to name my child what I want to name him," she said.
