A Nigerian Actor Caught in an Homosexual Act

First of all, I won't play the role of a judge cos the bible says judge not, but I'm a true believer of the word of God which does not condone the relationship between same sex. The case here is between Bestwood Chukwuemaka and the State, where the accused was caught having sexual intercourse with a fellow man. Prior to this case, the Nigerian Senate passed a strict law banning same-sex marriage and public display of affection by gays and lesbians in Nigeria in November 2011. According to provisions of the bill – Same Sex Marriage (prohibition) bill 2011 – a 14-year jail term is prescribed for convicted offenders in Nigeria.
“Persons who entered into a same sex marriage contract or civil union commits an offence and are each liable on conviction to a term of 14 years imprisonment. Any person, who registers, operates or participates in gay clubs, societies and organization, or directly or indirectly makes public show of same-sex amorous relationships in Nigeria commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a term of 10-year imprisonment,”.
On Monday September 17th 2011, the 28 year-old actor was sentenced to three-month imprisonment at a Karu Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, being the first person the bill was used for. Premium Times quoted him as pleading guilty to engaging in homosexual acts.
“I am guilty of the charge against me. I was under the influence of alcohol and I want the court to temper justice with mercy’’

The Police Prosecutor said the convict’s act was contrary to Section 284 of the Penal Code and that he committed the offence in August when sleeping in his bed.

Premium Times also noted that when he was first arraigned in early September, Mr. Chukwuemeka pleaded not guilty, saying,
“I came back drunk from the night club and thought I was sleeping on the same bed with my girl-friend and I started romancing her.”

However, when the case was heard on Monday, the actor suddenly pleaded guilty, and was then sentenced to three-month imprisonment.

The Senior Magistrate, Nafisatu Buba, sentenced him to three-month imprisonment without an option of fine, saying:
“This would serve as warning to other youths who hide under the influence of alcohol to commit crimes,’’.
I'm so not surprised because the same Nollywood are the ones promoting homosexuality in the country.

  3. Let's not be naive. Being gay is as natural as being straight. It might be a minority orientation, although not as small a minority as many suppose. Google the animal kingdom and human history. Look up immortals like Leonardo da Vinci and Michaelangelo and Tchaikovsky and in the ancient world Socrates and Alexander the Great. We are all selective about 'God's word.' He never approved fornication or abortion and all the sexual sins committed by many who only remember His word when it comes to gays.

  4. @ Anonymous #1. I do like your comment about abortion and sexual sins etc. It is true that people are quick to open their mouths in a situation where they are faced with the subject about "homosexuality". One is not to judge, however, the law in Nigeria strictly prohibits it, and goes on to state that it is an offence. People may be passing judgement based on the law of Nigeria and not the bible itself. Nevertheless, the bible mentions that homosexuality, along with plenty of other sins, are all sins. We should then take care not to be selective about the things we rebuke. - Feel free to stop by my blog www.a-boutagirl.blogspot.com
