Child Not Bride: Interview With Senator Yerima Ahmed Reeks of Ignorance

First of all, Nigeria is not govern by the Quran and the Islamic law does not cover the whole of Nigeria. Senator Yerima Ahmed, was the same Senator that got married to a 13yr-old girl and He is debating the fact that the maturity of a child depends on the fact that she has attained puberty. According to him, "Age is not the defining factor in determining if a child is ready for marriage or not". Meaning, if a girl at the age of 9yrs starts menstruating, she is in turn eligible for marriage. And for him to liken marriage a child to gay right, irks my blood cells.
